Are you interested in investigating basic mechanisms in splicing regulation and gene expression?

Our research group was launched in September 2024 and is hosted at the Institute of Molecular Infection Biology at the University of Würzburg. We offer a nice working place in a multicultural and dynamic academic environment. We are generally interested in talented and curious team members at any level with a background in molecular biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry and a strong interest in RNA biology.

Bachelor and Master students (both from JMU  & international) interested in an internship or thesis are welcome to get in touch about possibilities. Include a short motivation and prior research and/or course experience.

Spontaneous applications are welcome anytime for PhD/postdoc if you are able to procure your own funding, while fully-funded positions are advertised below when available. You can find e.g. a list of postdoc fellowships here or here (and I can obviously support you if you identify an opportunity).

If you are interested in joining our team or want to request more information, email irene[dot]beusch[at]uni-wuerzburg.de. Please include your CV, a cover letter with a brief description of your previous experience and motivation for joining the lab as well as the contacts for two/three academic references.

!We are currently recruiting a PhD student and a TA (lab tech)!

PhD Student Position (f/m/d)

We have an open position (fully funded) for a PhD student interested in understanding early spliceosome assembly and splice site recognition. Methods in the project may encompass forward genetics (CRISPR-Cas9 base editing screens, CRISPR-Cas9 genome engineering) in combination with a wide range of technologies including RNA-seq approaches as well as molecular biology methods (e.g. proximity labelling, IP-MS) and biochemistry.

We are looking for a motivated and curious student to join our growing team. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in life science and a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology, and have a strong interest and passion for RNA biology.

You can find more information here.

TA Position (f/m/d)

We have an open position for a TA (Technische Assistenz) to support the lab not only at the experimental level but also with organisational tasks. We are looking for a candidate that is exited about research and would like to join a young and dynamic lab.

The successful candidate should be familiar with general methods in molecular biology, biochemistry and/or cell biology. We are alsoMore information can be found here.
